Reconnecting with Nature through Song

Sunday 18 August 2013
10am - Mid pm

A 6-mile guided walk by Edwin through the beautiful countryside of the Surrey Hills. As we stroll along, we will be listening to the land. We will also do some musical warm-ups with a bit of group singing, and share observations and stories about the land around us and the wildlife and people who inhabit it.

Newlands Corner lies on the chalk ridge of the North Downs with superb views across the Weald to the ridge of the South Downs. The woods shelter roe deer and are home to green woodpeckers, nuthatches and tawny owls. We will meet up at Newlands Corner car park (on the A25 near Albury) at 10 am for a 6-miles guided walk by Edwin through the beautiful countryside of the Surrey Hills. As we stroll along, we will be listening to the land. We will also do some musical warm-ups with a bit of group singing, and share observations and stories about the land around us and the wildlife and people who inhabit it.

We will stop occasionally for quiet meditation and contemplation to absorb the beautiful views, time to wander … and perhaps be stirred to write our own music, songs or poetry – probably acapella or on lightweight instruments that fit in rucksack.

Never written a song before? No problem, we will team you up with someone more experienced to get you writing in no time … Songwriters of all abilities are welcome, whether it’s your first time writing a song or your hundredth!

Photographers and wildlife enthusiasts are also welcome.
