The images are translated into designs for the scarves, working with a family firm who have printed on silk for 40 years, resulting in scarves created in a variety of silks depending on the ‘feel’ of the image.
Some are semi translucent in Silk Georgette, some more opaque in heavier weight silks. All are hand edged.
Each scarf has its own story and is presented in a branded gift box with fully recyclable packaging.
As a photographer, Kate Lloyd took pictures of horses and presented them as Limited Edition prints.
While at an event, a client said “These images would look marvellous on silk scarves”. Kate agreed but did nothing about the idea for several years. However when the idea resurfaced some years later, she made contact with a silk mill which she had known of for many years but never visited.
They worked together and chose images for an initial collection of four scarves. This has grown over the past five years and there are now two collections each of eight scarves. One collection has images with horses and the other images from the natural world such as autumn leaves, watery subjects, reflections in water, boats and the sea.
These luxurious scarves are now exhibited at a variety of Art and Craft events, and also online at www.klscarves.com.
