Qigong (pronounced Chee Gong) is an ancient mind/body/breath practice that’s one of the key pillars of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It’s the grandmother and foundation of Tai Chi, and while they look similar, Qigong is easier to learn. ‘Qi’ means energy and ‘Gong’ means a skill that’s cultivated through practice, so essentially Qigong is the cultivation of energy.

Like a gardener cultivating a beautiful garden, we start with weeding out what no longer serves us, then seed our practice with intention and focus and finish by feeding ourselves with fresh, vibrant energy. Using the breath and a series of gentle but powerful moves that mimic those found in nature – flowing water, floating clouds, a tree moving in the wind – it’s a perfect way to activate your healing energy and boost your immunity as we head into Autumn. It calms, clears and energies body, mind and spirit and is scientifically proven to enhance wellbeing. These classes are for you if you’d like to:

  • clear out any stress, stiffness and anything that no longer serves you
  • feel relaxed and at one with the natural world
  • and leave refreshed, invigorated and revitalised

What you’ll get from this course and classes:

  • an understanding of how to balance and cultivate your energy
  • and some simple tools to help you breathe more deeply, move more freely and suggestions for how you can incorporate healing and mindful movement into your everyday life

It’s performed standing or seated is suitable for beginners and can be done by anyone. Just wear loose fitting clothes. Sue Llewellyn @SurreyHillsQigong
