Join us for a leisurely amble through charming private woodland. Immersing ourselves in the woodland atmosphere, we observe and connect with nature through the senses, smell foliage, stroke the bark, listen to the birds. The session culminates with a ‘treelaxation’, our nature meditation under the canopy of trees, then a woodland tea, so we aim to leave you feeling deeply relaxed and rejuvenated.
Forest bathing is an evidence-based wellbeing activity, based on the Japanese art of Shinrin-Yoku. Spending time in woodland has been shown to, amongst other benefits, boost our immune system for two+ weeks, balance blood pressure, reduce stress/cortisol levels, blood sugars, anxiety and rumination, as well as improve sleep, memory, concentration and creativity.
Harmony In Nature is run by Katie Robinson & Joanna Bristow-Watkins, both experienced Forest Bathing Guides. Operating mainly in woodland around the Surrey Hills and South London, we offer public and private sessions. See www.harmonyinnature.uk for all locations and dates available.
Indigenous civilisations frequently venerated nature and gained insight and wisdom from their relationship with the natural world. By immersing ourselves in woodland, we re-establish our ancestral connection with nature, reinforcing a sense of harmony within.
LOCATION: This nature connection forest bathing session involves a three-hour immersive experience in the beautiful private semi-ancient woodland at Harry Edwards Foundation, nestled deep in the Surrey Hills National Landscape. This has been a healing sanctuary since 1947, with lovely southerly views over the hills. We sometimes see/hear buzzards and woodpeckers.
The picturesque village of Shere, frequently used as a film set for period dramas, is well worth a visit whilst in the area.
ALL WEATHER EVENT: We operate in all weathers except very high winds and/or electrical storms which would compromise safety, so we request that you wear appropriate clothing.
DOGS: We can only accept trained Guide Dogs on our Forest Bathing sessions.
CANCELLATION: If we cancel this event, you will be offered a suitable alternative or a full refund. Within 72 hours before the event, refunds are not available. Funds can be transferred to another attendee, or future event, at the organiser’s discretion.
