Event Type

This course is for you if:

– you’re a complete novice at map reading or want to refresh rusty knowledge;

– you think you have a terrible sense of direction;

– you’re fed up with your partner  saying you can’t read a map;

– you just want a day out of the house or office, in the company of supportive women, to enjoy outdoor time, forage & learn new skills.

How did previous participants feel at the end of this course?

Inspired….”

I’ve fallen in love with maps…”

Confident & excited to continue learning…”

This is a one-day course to give you the confidence and skills to safely navigate while outdoors in a lowland environment. Expect lots of hands-on practice with opportunities to learn how to plan a route, read a map, use a compass, work out timings & orientate yourself when lost.

As a passionate forager, I’ll also be sharing about wild plants and native trees that we find on our route.

Don’t worry if you know nothing about maps or navigation – we’ll start from scratch.

You don’t need to be super fit to participate, but you should be comfortable being on your feet most of the day with a day pack, and able to walk comfortably (but slowly) for around 5 hours.

This is a women-only event. Location – Bramley area, Guildford, exact location provided on booking
