Bridge Street

Along the Mole Gap Trail…

Eccentric medieval meets elegant Regency.

Elegant Bridge Street with its fine early 19th Century buildings leads to the historic fording point across the River Mole. Notice first the 15th Century ‘Running Horses’ inn. A plaque on the river side of the building provides some history and verses of the comic poem written by John Skelton in the early 16th Century about the notorious ale-wife Elinour Rumming.
