Deer Equipment MS Venison
The UK’s wild deer population is booming, and while they’re beautiful to see, large herds of non-native deer can wreak havoc on woodlands and crops. With no natural predators and a growing fallow deer population in the Surrey Hills, keeping their numbers in check is crucial to protect nature and farming.
To help tackle this, the Surrey Hills National Landscape is teaming up with partners to bring wild venison to more tables. We’re thrilled to support M.S. Venison in getting key equipment, including a deer chiller trailer and thermal imaging gear. The trailer will ensure safe storage of more venison, ready to be processed and sold locally—perfect for conservation and your plate
M.S. Venison has applied for £7,900.50 to purchase essential equipment, including a freezer/chiller unit, a thermal scope, a deer stick, and six high seats, to enhance the sustainable management of fallow deer in the Surrey Hills.
This investment will facilitate safer and more effective training and stalking for larger groups, supporting the growth of the business in guided stalking experiences, butchery demonstrations, and cull days. The surge in demand over recent years has highlighted the need for advanced, high-tech equipment to ensure proper storage and handling of deer meat.
Wild venison is recognised as one of the most sustainable and low-carbon meats available. The growing interest in this market not only drives financial support for culling efforts but also contributes to balancing ecosystems, fostering healthy woodland, and maintaining productive arable habitats.
