Hike & Swim – 8.5km Reigate Heath to Buckland Lake Circular

Event Description:
Discover this new 8.5km/ 5 mile route with us through rural country side, along lush trails with views of Reigate Hills. We follow the Pilgrims way edging the hills through gorgeous woodland trails before we reach the stunning Reigate heath. Walking amongst purple heather and aromatic pine trees, passing the famous Windmill of the Reigate Golf club before heading back to the SHAC and swim at Bucklands Lake.

We then drive 3min to Bucklands lake for approx 6.30/7pm swim until 8pm. Food & refreshments available at the SHAC till 8pm.

Swim and how to prepare: Please read and book before the day of the hike!
Swimming has to be booked before the hike with the Surrey Hills Adventure Company SHAC.
Entrance to the lake is only with a valid swim ticket, which is £10 and can be booked here: https://www.theshac.co.uk/swim-session/

Parking at Buckland lake is only available for those with swim ticket from 5-8pm, so we are not meeting at the lake for the hike start.

You don’t have to Swim at Bucklands Lake – you can also walk around the Lake and just sit and enjoy the views.  If you don’t want to swim but join us, you need to grab a lift with someone in a car.  Dogs allowed on the walk but not at Buckland lake. Please bring a lead as we are crossing fields with life stock.

Further event details and how to prepare for the walk:
Please ensure you bring water and snack for the walk.
Please wear sturdy shoes; bring waterproofs if necessary. The distance and duration of the walk depends on the group’s pace and weather conditions. We aim for a medium walking pace with several information and photo stops.

Hike difficulty: Easy to Moderate/Some overgrown paths and some inclines
Duration: 2.5h hike plus 1h swim. Swim ends 8pm
Bring: Own snacks/drink or (money for coffee & food van at The SHAC)
Toilets available: None at the start. End at the SHAC.
Fee: £10 for the hike. The swim (£10) has to be booked separately for 19:00 to 19:45 (Spaces limited to 35) Book here

Buckland deli closes at 3pm, so won’t be open.
