Kokedama Workshop & Japanese Tea Tasting
24 April 2026 @ 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Join Lisa for a hands-on Kokedama workshop, where you’ll learn the beautiful Japanese art of creating moss ball plants.
We begin this workshop with Shakyō Meditation, a traditional Japanese Buddhist practice of tracing sacred sutra characters as a form of moving meditation. Shakyō has been practiced for centuries to cultivate calm, focus, and reverence. By slowly tracing the characters, the mind settles, breathing softens, and attention gently returns to the present moment, creating a grounded, peaceful start to our time together.
From this calm and centred place, we move into a creative, hands-on kokedama session. You’ll make two kokedama plants to take home, perfect for hanging or displaying in your living space.
Lisa will guide you step-by-step through the process of shaping the soil, wrapping the roots, applying moss, and securing your plants using traditional techniques. You’ll also learn how to care for your kokedama so they remain healthy and thriving long after the workshop.
Throughout the session, we’ll pause to enjoy and explore a selection of Japanese teas, deepening the sense of ritual, presence, and cultural connection.
This workshop is a gentle and nourishing way to slow down, connect with nature, and experience elements of Japanese contemplative culture.
All materials are provided, just bring your curiosity and a sense of calm.
