An absolute gem in the Surrey Hills, walk the boardwalk over dragonfly ponds with gorgeous views over purple and yellow heath and common land.

This new 7.5mile route takes you far away into colourful heathland and the recently re-opened boardwalk over the wetlands. It’s a nature reserve offering sandy but firm footpaths with every step you feel surrounded by seeming wilderness and rich wildlife. We’ll start at Thursley, a quaint chocolate box village, named after the god, Thor. We then follow some tree-lined paths to reach the open landscape and boardwalk before we continue our walk in pine forest inviting us to ‘bathe’ in the natural oils, called phytoncides released into the air from those trees.

When you “‘bathe’” in them they contribute to relaxation, healing and activation of your para-sympathetic nervous system (the rest and healing system), according to “Shinrinyoku” Forest bathing guru Dr Li.

Option to visit the Three Horseshoe Pub after the hike for lunch or refreshments.

Difficulty: easy/moderate
Duration: 3-3.5h approx
Dogs: Dogs are allowed but its recommended to keep dogs on leads during bird breeding season.
Bring: snacks, drink. There are no public toilets/shops along the route, but a pub at the start/end (5min walk). And sometimes a mobile coffee van.
