Leaving the sleepy platform of Wormley’s Witley Station, this magnificent 18km loop takes you on a journey through some of Surrey’s most breathtaking and unspoilt countryside.  Climbing through ancient oak woodland onto the heathland summit of Hydon’s Ball, far-reaching views across the Weald reward your effort, before we drop into the timeless village of Hambledon, where Norman yews have stood sentinel in the churchyard since before the Conquest.  A little detour may take us past the stunning Merry Harriers pub.

The route then sweeps south through rolling meadows and quiet bridleways to deliver you quite dramatically onto the vast, picture-perfect green of Chiddingfold.  This is arguably the most beautiful village in the Surrey Hills, where the 13th-century spire of St Mary the Virgin presides over a scene so unchanged it barely seems real.

We will stop at The Crown Inn to admire this ancient timber framed building and for a little refreshment at one of England’s oldest inns, before a gentle return through green farmland to the station, leaving you with the satisfying feeling that you’ve seen England at its very finest.
