Guided Twilight Walk: 10km Knepp Estate Rewilding Project

A great opportunity to join our knowledgable guide on a unique twilight walk through the Knepp Estate a pioneer in the rewilding movement and the subject of a best-selling book; “Rewilding” by Isabella Tree.

We’ll walk into the twilight and hopefully see some wildlife emerging in the peaceful evening. Its early rutting season for the red and fallow deer and we might spot some emerging bats, hunting owls, and active foxes. Large free-roaming English Longhorn cattle, Exmoor ponies, and Tamworth pigs also leave the shade to visit ponds and lakes for an evening drink.

Knepp is a trailblazing 3,500-acre rewilding project that has changed the way people think about nature and how they can heal our planet.
Julie has visited the Kneep Estate many times and will guide you with information and stories on this stunning route to the most special places of the Estate.

Since they began rewilding just twenty years ago, endangered species such as nightingales, turtle doves and purple emperor butterflies have found sanctuary here. The sheer abundance of life is mind-blowing. Herds of old English longhorn cattle, Tamworth pigs, Exmoor ponies and red and fallow deer wander the landscape, their disturbance shaping the water meadows, shrubland and wood pasture, creating new habitats for wildlife. Knepp’s dynamic, rebounding ecosystem is a story of hope, showing how nature can bounce back if we let it. Thousands of nature-lovers come here to take in the astonishing sights and sounds.

Please note Knepp Cafe and Shop closes at 4pm. Kitchen restaurant closes at 8.30pm.

Bring: Suitable and comfortable clothing, boots/walking shoes or drink, snacks, head torch/torch (or charged phone)
Facilities: Limited at the Knepp Restaurant (not a public toilet)
Other Fee’s: Entrance is free but donations are very welcome -Car park is now chargable from 7am to 5pm.
Meet: By entrance for briefing at 5pm – please arrive a few minutes earlier.
