Begin the longest night’s turn toward light with a guided sunrise meditation and sound bath atop Pitch Hill, where forest and sky meet in stillness. Just a short walk from the garden where George Harrison wrote “Here Comes the Sun,” Pitch Hill offers its own timeless sunrise — the same soft Surrey light that inspired one of music’s most beloved songs.
This special session falls on 20th December, marking the winter solstice a day early, as we gather to honour the turning point of the year — the moment the darkness begins to yield and the light starts its slow return.
THE ASCENT
We’ll begin with a short but invigorating 10-minute walk, ascending a 100-metre incline — with one brief but steep stretch in the middle — through woodland paths as the sky begins to soften with the first hints of winter light.
GUIDED MEDITATION & SOUND BATH
At the summit, we’ll settle into a comfortable seated space and enter a guided meditation in darkness, gently awakening the senses as the world around us begins to stir. We’ll then be carried into a sound bath, its resonance meeting the stillness of the winter woodland, deepening our sense of rest and renewal at this quietest point of the year. Just before sunrise, we’ll open our eyes together and witness the sun rise over the landscape — a moment of shared silence, light, and presence, marking the year’s turn back toward brightness.
TEA CEREMONY
We’ll close our morning with a seasonal herbal tea ceremony, crafted to reflect the energy of the solstice and the season. You’ll receive a packet of the same tea to take home, allowing the ritual to continue in your own space and time.
Come as you are, no experience with meditation necessary. Just bring warm layers, something to sit on, and a willingness to greet the darkest days with intention and wonder.
IN CASE OF RAIN
If the forecast is rain, the event will be rescheduled. If the forecast is cloudy, you’ll have the option to attend a different date instead.
