ALEX ORROW PHOTOGRAPHY

With over 25 years of experience, I’ve specialised in commercial, architectural, corporate, and personal portrait photography, starting in London and now based in Reigate, Surrey. My work has taken me from local assignments to projects across the UK and around the globe.

During this time, I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide array of incredible individuals—from nurses and newborns to sports stars and CEOs, with the occasional celebrity chef and even a prime minister. My journey began as a press and PR photographer in North London, where I spent the 1990s dashing between press calls during the height of the Cool Britannia era, navigating the transition from film to digital photography. My early experience with film and darkroom work honed my eye for composition in fast-paced settings, enabling me to work efficiently under tight deadlines.

After moving away from press and PR, I briefly pursued travel and expedition photography before becoming an assistant to commercial architectural and interiors photographers.

Today, my work encompasses everything from corporate marketing campaigns to magazine editorials, with expertise in portrait, location, architectural, and healthcare photography. More recently. I’ve built a trusted client base that includes government departments, multinational corporations, public bodies, and local independent businesses.

Whether working solo or alongside art directors and designers, in the studio or challenging environments, my approach centres on putting people at ease to capture dynamic, creative images with minimal fuss and equipment.

I’m proud to live and work in the Surrey Hills, where I find constant inspiration in the countryside. I frequently photograph this beautiful area.

While my career has included numerous commissions in London and internationally, I’m increasingly focused on local projects. This shift allows me to support the local economy and reduce the carbon footprint of my work. One example is my ongoing collaboration with Brookworth Homes, photographing their new developments in and around the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
