I’m Martin Bamford, a portrait photographer based in Cranleigh, in the heart of the Surrey Hills.

Before photography, I spent more than 20 years working as a Chartered Financial Planner, speaking about money and pensions on radio, in newspapers and on television. Then the pandemic arrived, I picked up a camera, and a long-held interest became something much bigger.

Today, I create portraits for ambitious professionals, hardworking creatives and small business owners who need to show up with confidence. My work is about helping people look like themselves, just on a very good day. Clear, honest, approachable and credible.

Over the past five years, I’ve photographed solo business owners, creative agencies, musicians, actors, artists, authors, charities, politicians and members of the Royal Family. Every shoot is different, but the aim is always the same: to create images that feel natural, useful and true to the person in front of the camera.

Most people arrive telling me they hate having their photo taken. That’s completely normal. My job is to make the whole experience feel easy. I’ll guide you through the process, help with posture and expression, and keep things relaxed enough for the real you to show up.
