Shooting Star Children’s Hospices

We are Surrey’s only children’s hospice.  Last year, we supported 154 families across Surrey whose child had a life-limiting condition, as well as 107 families grieving the loss of their child. As well as Surrey, we also support families in North and South West London.

Our care is holistic, providing an individual package of care for each family based on their needs. This ranges from initial support in the home by our community nurses to specialist symptom care management from our SPACE team, and help from our family support team on everything from help with hospital stays to simply being a friendly voice at the other end of the phone.

Christopher’s, our hospice located just outside Guildford, provides both respite and end-of-life care, with a wide range of facilities including a hydrotherapy pool, sensory room, soft play area, arts and crafts facilities, and a den for teenagers, as well as family rooms, specially adapted bedrooms, and bathrooms.

Our bereavement service has recently expanded to offer support to any family in Surrey whose child dies. In addition to counselling and arts therapies for parents, siblings, and grandparents, we offer a wide range of groups and events that allow families to meet each other and form friendships with others who understand their experiences.

We rely on the generosity of our supporters to continue our vital work. For every one pound of funding we receive from the government, we need to raise two more. Our Specialist Bereavement Service receives no government funding. Visit our website to learn about how you can support us.
