Nature Calling – Box Hill Trail Launch

On Saturday 19th July, we launch the interactive game trail ‘Dawn After Night, Spring After Winter’ by David Blandy and Daniel Locke. Attendees will be led along the accessible trail from the green at Box Hill through the woods for a sensory experience communing with nature. Imagine you are from another planet, exploring the earth as an unknown place and together build a story on your adventure.

There will be plenty of opportunities to get involved in activities along the route from creating a journal together to viewing live performance including Still Shadey’s specially commissioned Nature’s Anthem The event will feature wearable sculpture from Olana Light, site – specific dance from Aaron Baksh, theatrical elements by KIT Theatre, interactive sounds by Freewheelers Theatre Company and a new sound track by Jack Kingslake.

There are 4 time slots available for this experience:

• 1st performance: 12.30-1.45pm
• 2nd performance: 1.30-3pm
• 3rd performance: 3.30-4.45pm
• 4th performance:4.30-5.45pm

This project is part of a national arts programme, Nature Calling, connecting and deepening engagement with the landscape. The aim is to listen to our communities and ensure our landscapes are a place for everyone. Artists David Blandy & Daniel Locke have been working with local schools and community groups, to inspire their project Dawn After Night, Spring After Winter. This has resulted in an evocative game publication of local mythologies and the natural world that will take players through two different interactive nature trails at Hutchinson’s Bank in New Addington, and Box Hill.
