New Hike: 20km Epping Forest & Ancient Tree Circular

Escape to the peaceful woodlands of Epping Forest on this circular walk through the stunning Epping Forest, blending ancient history, open forest views, and the chance to spot deer.

Explore the ancient landscapes of Epping Forest, where oak, beech and hornbeam woodland meet open heath, grasslands and flowing waterways. Along the way, we pass the striking Ancient Dead Tree, the beautifully contorted Twisted Tree, and quiet forest streams that add to the immersive countryside feel.

We’ll pause at Blackweir Pond, often known as the “Lost Pond” — one of the forest’s most tranquil and picturesque spots — and pass the Deer Sanctuary, home to fallow deer and rooted in the forest’s medieval conservation history.

Our lunch stop will be at Oyster Shack & Seafood Bar at High Beach — a unique woodland café famous for its incredible seafood (and their much-loved mango curried prawns). A perfect blend of nature, history, wildlife and a touch of culinary adventure.

Duration: 5-6h approx
Dogs: Well-behaved dogs always welcome.
