Join us every Saturday morning for a gentle, healing Qigong class – or sign up for a full course and discover the quiet, life-changing magic of this ancient practice.

Qigong, also known as Chi Kung and pronounced “chee gong”, is an ancient Chinese practice for energy cultivation and self-healing. Often described as a moving meditation, it combines soft, flowing movement with deep breathing and focused intention to restore balance in body and mind.

Qigong can be confused with Tai Chi. While both involve slow, mindful movement and breath, Tai Chi has martial roots and was developed for self-defence, whereas Qigong is an internal energy practice rooted in healing and energy cultivation.
It’s sometimes referred to as the ‘Grandmother of Tai Chi’ because it’s older, simpler, and easier to learn – making it perfect for beginners.

As one of the five main branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) – alongside acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage, and dietary therapy – Qigong helps you tune into the innate wisdom of your body, calming the nervous system, improving flexibility, and releasing physical or emotional tension.

Led by 500-hour certified Qigong instructor Sue Llewellyn of Surrey Hills Qigong, these classes are deeply relaxing, surprisingly energising, and open to all levels. Movements can be done standing or seated, with plenty of space for you to go at your own pace.
