Join us for an evening Twilight walk to experience nature, wildlife and the night sky of Blackheath’s woodland and heath
A gentle 2 hour stroll accross the heathland and pine forest of Blackheath in this unique site of SSSI (Sites of Special Scientific Interest) transitioning from twilight to darkness. A slow and mindful walk following the sunset through the Scots pines on Blackheath Common.
Under the shine of the (almost) full moon tune into the twilight sounds of autumn ; the ground rustling, the nocturnal birds and hooting, the wind whistling through the leaves.
Join us as we tune into our senses into the sights, sounds, and smells to feel fully immersed into nature. During our woodland walk, find a sitting spot , tree log or lie on your yoga mat to tune into the Autumn nature surrounding us.
Bring a torch and star watching apps for further exploration, although we will try to walk as long as we can without any artifcial light.
Your host Simone Dill, a local resident and hiking guide will lead you through some beautiful woodland paths and explore Blackheath. She is a North Downs Way Ambassador and hike enthusiast and will share her knowledge of local hiking routes and its people and history with you.
Meet your Co-host: Jen Slade
Having trained with National Trust in Kent, and now working in Surrey for Forestry England, Jen has a deep rooted passion for nature and trees, with a special interest in woodlands and their wildlife.
Her curiosity has explored many Surrey wildlife areas including Blackheath and will help us identifying some sounds and sights that we may encounter.
She is a huge advocate of nature’s positive affect on our mental health, she loves sharing her knowledge and experiences with others.
