Habitat Protection And Intervention Kilnside Farm

Kilnside Farm applied for funding to purchase a flail mower attachment to support the management of invasive species, including Himalayan balsam, along the River Wey. The mower will also be used to maintain hedgerows on public rights of way that cross the farm at multiple points.

Rotational cutting of the riverbanks will help suppress the spread of Himalayan balsam while encouraging the regeneration of native riverbank vegetation. This approach will enhance river flow, biodiversity, and habitat quality within the ancient water meadows.
