Mini Baler Surrey Countryside Partnership
Surrey Countryside Partnership applied for £7,641.60 to purchase a mini baler attachment for the Tracmaster, previously funded by FiPL. This equipment is a crucial addition to the Downlands Partnership’s efforts to restore flower-rich grasslands, a process that involves removing vegetation to maintain low soil nutrient levels and encourage biodiversity.
In the past, arisings were manually raked into piles, with some even removed via hired skips. The mini baler will streamline this process by converting the arisings into manageable bales. These bales will be donated as green hay to local sites and farmers, helping to spread grassland species and promote the restoration of biodiversity across other locations.
