Peaslake Community Orchard Coverwood Farm

Coverwood Farm successfully applied for £41,004.48 to establish a community orchard and garden, as well as to invest in equipment and infrastructure to support grazing on the remainder of the field.

The community garden was thoughtfully designed with raised sleeper beds, pedestrian pathways, benches, and a tool shed, providing an inviting space for local residents to gather and grow together. Additionally, an orchard of 30 fruit trees was planted, with the farmer working closely with the community to bring the vision to life.

To support cattle grazing, the farm installed vital infrastructure, including fencing, water troughs, and pipework to ensure a consistent water supply for the herd. This project successfully addresses all four FiPL outcomes—People, Place, Climate, and Nature—by fostering community engagement, enhancing biodiversity, promoting sustainable farming practices, and building climate resilience.
