Pond Restoration Gostrode Farm

The Gostrode Trust applied for £5,730.80 to restore two field dew ponds to help them retain more water during summer droughts and reduce the amount of surface water in the grass field in the winter.  The project also involved removal of scrub and some willow trees that had grown over the ponds preventing any light getting through.   The ponds will be fenced to prevent the cattle from getting into them, but new gates will allow access for maintenance in the future.
