Pond Restoration Loseley Park Estate
Loseley Park Estate applied for £126,315.98 to restore the upper and lower lake of the Estate that is situated along the public footpath.
The restoration project aimed to improve the water quality of the lakes, creating clearer and deeper waters to enhance habitats while also restoring the picturesque views of the lakes and house for public enjoyment. By dredging the lakes and clearing the surrounding scrub, the goal is to create a diverse mosaic of habitats that will support a wide range of wildlife.
To further enhance the experience for visitors, picnic benches have been installed along the footpath beside the lake, providing inviting spots to pause, relax, and take in the beautiful scenery of the lakes and the house.
In October 2025, we held a celebration of the project with the Loseley Estate. Read the news story here.

Additional works:
When work on the above restoration was underway, it was found that the previous supporting wall of the dam between the lakes had been undermined and broken by tree roots, meaning that the bank between the large and small pond was unsupported and eroding away. Some replacement piling was factored into the initial project, but it was then necessary to instal a more extensive number of piling sheets. Additional funding was awarded to help with the cost of the materials for the 39 metres of pilings which were then installed along the eastern edge of the large lake to reinforce the bank.
