Hedge Planting Norbury & Swanworth Farms

Over the two farms 2,358m of hedgerow was planted to increase canopy cover and encourage biodiversity. There was a discovery of glow worms along the hedgerow line, following recommendations from specialists 8x3m gaps were left for the glow worm population.

Fencing was installed to protect the newly planted hedgerows from livestock but also provide a corridor for the hedging and the adjacent footpaths. The newly planted hedgerows connect existing hedgerows and other habitats both on site and on adjoining landholdings. They will also sequester more carbon from the atmosphere.

Volunteers were involved in the process of management and aftercare of the hedgerow.
