Educational visits Swanworth Farm

The farm has hosted a series of educational visits, in conjunction with Just Bring yourself CIC.

This programme is focused on guided natural history hikes in Norbury Park for schoolchildren followed by a farm visit.  The farmer explains the links between farming, conservation and food production.  They also hear about how farming impacts on the global issue of climate change and how small changes in behaviour can lead to changes.  The children then have a picnic lunch, followed by a reflection period in which they are encouraged to give feedback on what they have learned.

The farm visits include children who may not have visited the countryside before.  A teacher of one group advised ‘Please be aware that the majority of children from our school may not have walked on a muddy footpath in their lives’.  The farm visits enable them to discover, enjoy and understand the landscape whilst also learning about the Countryside Code.
