Water management on grass meadows Oxenford Farm Ltd

Oxenford Farm secured £20,825.83 to restore overgrown, silted ditches and repair blocked and damaged culverts across the meadows, improving drainage and land management. The project also included the purchase of a mobile water bowser, ensuring cattle have access to fresh drinking water while grazing. This reduces the need for livestock to access the ditches directly, helping to prevent bank erosion and protect the surrounding habitat. 

Before the restoration work, the meadows were increasingly dominated by rushes, significantly reducing available grazing. Clearing the ditches has improved water flow and drainage, allowing more light to reach the meadow floor. As a result, the land now supports healthier grazing conditions and provides a more diverse and attractive habitat for wildlife.
