Meet James Giles. He is the Reserve Manager at Thursley National Nature Reserve. He is a keen photographer and loves walking.

“I get a great deal of pleasure from the Surrey Hills. Thursley is unique, I would call it a place with a great sense of wilderness, just one hour from London you have sweeping vistas, open landscape with views across the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The Surrey Hills offer such a variety of habitats from wonderful woodlands, open heathlands, chalk downland, rivers and more. For an AONB in a very built up area of the world it really has some stunning landscapes. Come to Thursley to see the heathland pools, watch the birds, dragonflies and lizards. The boardwalk has been built with wheelchair and buggy access so everyone can enjoy the heath. If you’ve never been here, come out, you will be blown away, it’s a fantastic place.”
