Newlands Corner commands some of the best views over the Surrey Hills and is a great place to start a walk with plenty of woodlands to explore.
The easier access trail has recently been resurfaced and seen further accessibility improvements with thanks to the fantastic feedback gathered during reviews by the Surrey Coalition of Disabled People. In collaboration with Surrey County Council and the Albury Estate, the Surrey Hills DEFRA Access for All fund has facilitated an improved experience for all at Newlands Corner, with step free access straight from the carpark.
The route is a little more than half a mile long (~888m) and is largely well signposted following waymarkers for the Acorn Trail. There are two benches along the route to provide resting points. For further details on the route and it’s infrastructure, please check out the route on Komoot.
A short detour off the route will take you to the Yew Tree Project. Please be advised the track to boardwalk around these thousand year old Yews has a slight camber and some short sections with roots.
There is disabled car parking both outside the Visitor Centre and where the route exits the woodland. To access the route, walk through the picnic area towards the toilet block, where the trail begins then follow signs for the Acorn Trail. When exiting, you will emerge in the carpark. Turn left and you will arrive shortly back at the Visitor Centre.
