Post Christmas Hike: 9km Newlands Corner, St Martha’s Hill and Chilworth, near Guildford

A great opportunity to walk off some of the Christmas excesses with a relatively short but in places bracing walk taking in a number of North Downs beauty spots & places of interest.
We start at Newlands Corner, located right up on the North Downs Way and then follow this national trail to the neighbouring hill of St Martha’s with amazing views of the Surrey Hills and a chance to visit the beautiful little chapel located on the top.
We then head down the valley to the charming village of Chilworth where there will be an opportunity to explore the historical Chilworth Gunpowder Mills, making our way to the quaint village of Albury before heading back up the hill to finish with some much needed refreshments at one of the catering establishments in or around the Newlands Corner beauty spot car park.
Difficulty: Easy/moderate, some climbs possible muddy paths
Duration: 2.5h
Bring: Money for snacks/drink (coffee stop), hiking boots
Facilities: At the start / finish plus we will pass a couple of pubs on route.
