13 June 2025 @ 9:30 am – 3:30 pm
A one-day course to give you the confidence and skills to safely navigate while outdoors in a lowland environment & learn about native trees & wild plants en route.

“It was a great day, fun & skill building AND I’ve put the skills into practice since – WIN WIN WIN.” Helen Worwood
This course is for you if:
– you’re a complete novice at map reading or want to refresh your knowledge;
– you think you have a terrible sense of direction;
– you’re fed up with your partner saying you can’t read a map;
– you just love being outdoors in the company of supportive women;
– you want a day out of the office / house, to do some foraging & learn some new skills.
How did previous participants feel at the end of this day course?
“Nourished…” “Inspired….” “I’ve fallen in love with maps…” “Much more confident & excited to continue learning…”
A one-day course to give you the confidence and skills to safely navigate while outdoors in a lowland environment & learn about native trees & wild plants en route.
Expect lots of hands-on practice with opportunities to learn how to plan a route, read a map, use a compass, work out timings & orientate yourself when lost.
As a passionate forager, I’ll also be sharing about the wild plants and native trees that we find on our route.
Don’t worry if you know nothing about maps or navigation – we’ll start from scratch. This course is fun, informal & ideal for beginners or those wanting to refresh their knowledge with a supportive instructor.
You don’t need to be super fit to participate, but you should be comfortable being on your feet most of the day with a day pack, and able to walk comfortably (but slowly) for around 5 hours.
Empowering women outdoors. This is a women-only event.
