Several species are traditionally thought to reach their peak in midsummer, including yarrow, St John’s Wort, and mugwort. On this walk, learn about the various medicinal plants in the area, finishing by making your own St John’s Wort infused oil to take home. St John’s Wort is known for is properties to help wound healing, soothing skin irritations, and easing pain from conditions like arthritis, muscle aches, and nerve pain when applied topically. This oil can only be made with fresh St John’s Wort and the ideal time to harvest them is around the summer solstice.
