Explore 9miles/15km of the famous Lovelace trail , also called ‘Jubilee trail’ with over 10 ornate bridges in the shady forest of Sheepleas Horsley.
Lord Lovelace, once owner of the East Horsley Estate, was an enthusiastic forester. To ease transport in the hilly woods he constructed tracks with horseshoe shaped bridges. Of these, 10 bridges still remain. Summer is an ideal time to visit and keep cool on this shady and leafy walk, (it can get muddy in the winter)
Adjacent Sheepleas nature reserve is a gem in the Surrey Hills, not well know and it feels away from civilisation.
Possible visit to West Horsley Place, to be confirmed.
Difficulty: Easy/moderate some undulating paths
Duration: 4-4.30h approx
Dogs: Dogs are allowed.
Bring: snacks, drink. There are no public toilets/shops along the route (unless West Horsley Place is confirmed)
