A stunning new 5 miles 8km hike in one of the finest lowland heaths in the world; Chobham Common Nature Reserve.
Surround yourself with stunning heathland. With triple-colour flowering heather in late summer , and 300 species of wildflowers, Chobham common is described as one of the finest remaining lowland heaths in the world. The sandy and gravel paths are criss-crossing over a fairly flat terrain, which makes for an easy walk. You may spot a Sand lizard, rare butterflies and the bizarre glue-haired, red-leaved a insect trapping sundews. Chobham Common is the largest National Nature Reserve in South East England,
Its 574 hectares is managed by Surrey Wildlife Trust. Conservation work may be undergoing and with Ross as your Guide, you’ll be hearing about the importance of this, large-scale intervention necessary to keep Chobham one of the finest remaining lowland heaths in the world.
Ross, is a Surrey Wildlife Trust Engagement and Conservation Officer for the Wilder Schools project, encouraging local educators to improve biodiversity in their grounds and take more of their lessons outside. Ross is also a qualified Lowland Walking Leader and Paddlesports Instructor, who enjoys hiking, swimming and eating in his spare time.”
