Just Hike – Hydons Ball and Dragon Stones 15km

Challenge yourself with this fantastic Surrey Hills Three Peaks Challenge, walking Boxhill, Leith Hill and Holmbury Hill in one day.

The Dragon Stones and Hydon’s Ball with one of less discovered high points in Surrey, with far reaching views and Druids history these trails are a hidden gem.
Join us on this stunning 15km circular walk though shady woodland and across open heathland with a stop over at the White Horse Pub in stunning Hascombe.
We head out through the lovely Busbridge Woods before heading onto Hydons Heath where we will learn more about the history and symbolism of this area.
Leading onto Hydons Ball, the high point of the walk you can now rest at the seat dedicated to Octavia Hill a co-founder of the National Trust. It’s an ideal spot to enjoy stunning views and an evening sunsets. And you’ll discover why the ‘Ball’ had significance in the Napoleonic Wars.
On our route we visit the Dragonstones circle was created by the Order of Druids. A stunning place of ancient worship.
Heading out westwards we will reach the hamlet of Hambledon where we will have a refreshment break before heading south to pick up the Greensand’s way which we will follow along a wooded ridge back towards our cars
Difficulty: Easy to moderate with one hill climb (with several stops)
Duration: 4-4.5h approx, plus time in pub
Bring: snacks, drink, money for pub

Please note if coming from the North Direction (Busbridge / Godalming way) – the car park will be on your right with a fairly obvious wooden National Trust Car Park sign. If coming from the South obviously on your left however the sign is quite hard to see until you are almost at the entrance.
