The Yorkshire three peaks are Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent and are located in a triangle. Our 2-day three peaks challenge offers amazing hill-side and moorland trails and stunning hill-top views. We’ll hike a circular 22km route on Saturday to reach Whernside and Ingleborough. On Sunday we’ll hike a shorter but bracing 11km to reach our third peak Pen-y-ghent.

Summary of Yorkshire Three Peaks Weekend itinerary:
Friday 15th: will be a travel day, with a chance to meet and settle into our base for the weekend the fantastically located Ribblehead Station Inn. There will dinner available** plus a briefing and preparation for the following days walks

Saturday 16th – Stepping out from the Inn, we start our 22km hike past the iconic Ribblehead railway viaduct. Following the railway for a few km before heading up towards the first of our peaks: Whernside (736 m). We then follow a lovely ridge with amazing views across the moorland before dropping into a little hamlet before a bracing walk up our second peak: Ingleborough (724 m).
Descending gently back into the valley and to our Inn, where we can relax and enjoy the traditional Yorkshire hospitality in a stunning location. The walk takes approximately 7 to 8 hours.

Sunday 17th – We will drive the short distance to the village of Horton in Ribblesdale, for our relatively brief but bracing circular walk to our final peak: Pen-Y-Ghent (694 m). The walk is approximately 11km and takes 3 ½ to 4 hours so that we will be back at the cars in time for a late lunch** and a chance to head home in the afternoon.

Difficulty – Challenging. The hikes are strenuous but is not technically difficult and will be following some well maintained and popular paths. There is significant ascent and descent each day however for much of it the slopes are relatively gentle.

You will need to be fit enough to spend a full day in the hills maintaining a reasonable walking pace (though we will have plenty of stops) Please contact us if you would like to discuss this further.
