Explore Box Hill & Mickleham on this 8mile circular Hike with some steep ascents and descents. An 8mile circular walk with dramatic deep valley views. The Box Hill, Lodge Hill and Juniper Hill area is steeped in history with signs of settlement going back as far as the Bronze age, and also once crossed by the Pilgrims Way. Along this stunning but challenging route we’ll pause to take in some wonderful viewpoints along the way such as Broadwood’s Folly and Solomon’s Memorial. Beyond the picturesque village of Mickleham, we’ll pass the historically interesting grassy open area known as Mickleham Gallops offering pretty views and a rich history. The Box Hill Cafe will provide a well-earned cuppa and slice of cake at the end. Ross, is a Surrey Wildlife Trust Engagement and Conservation Officer for the Wilder Schools project, encouraging local educators to improve biodiversity in their grounds and take more of their lessons outside. Ross is also a qualified Lowland Walking Leader and very passionat and knowledgeable about local wildlife and nature. Difficulty: moderate, some areas challenging with steep climbs, descents and lots of steps.
