A weekend festival celebrating the onset of Spring, bringing together the very best of Surrey’s food, drink, art and crafts at the Rural Life Living Museum, Tilford,  Surrey

This festival is a unique opportunity to celebrate spring in the beautiful setting of the Rural Life Living Museum, where visitors can experience a wide range of fun and exciting activities that celebrate spring and showcase the richness of the culture, heritage and natural beauty of the Surrey Hills.

Festival-goers of all ages can expect a wide range of activities, including traditional country crafts, live music, art demonstrations, local food vendors, and outdoor woodland activities.

Join us for the whole day as there is something for everyone!

Country craft and traditional activities

  • Participate in planting spring seeds
  • Have a go at wheelwrighting
  • Take part in woodland skills
  • Learn gardening tips and tricks
  • Make a corn dolly
  • Create your own willow art
  • soapstone carving
  • Pyrography
  • Paint your own pottery
  • Toast marshmallows around the fire pit

Music and Storytelling

  • Listen to engaging and captivating stories on the children’s authors’ stage
  • Take part in a ukelele workshop (bring your own ukelele)
  • Tap along to a range of tunes from Surrey’s songwriters

Rural Life Demonstrations

  • Ride a penny farthing
  • Take a trip on a steam train
  • Watch age-old country skills such as blacksmithing, forging and woodturning
  • Learn all about Romany culture
  • Watch the Victorian laundry in action
  • Walk among the vintage vehicles
  • climb on a vintage fire engine
  • explore the many traditional buildings, tools and machinery

Locally sourced Food & Drink

Between the activities and demos, enjoy our wide variety of food and drink from the Surrey Hills, so treat yourself to a wood-fired pizza, Turkish street food, a delicious homemade pastry, a glass of wine from the Surrey Hills or a Silent Pool gin and tonic!

 

Locally made arts, crafts and products

The Surrey Hills are home to an incredible community of unique and authentic artisans who keep both traditional as well as modern artisan skills alive.  They are not only passionate about their craft, but they are also excited to share their knowledge, skills and products with a wider audience.  Come and meet a wide variety of local artisans and browse their stalls to find those one-of-a-kind items, gifts, handmade crafts and other unique items.

Rural Life Living Museum

The Rural Life Living Museum is an open-air museum and visitor attraction which collects and preserves objects associated with farming and goods used by local craftsmen circa 1750-1960. Many aspects of village and rural life are displayed recalling a way of life once common to the local people.

The museum is distributed over ten acres of field, woodland and barns. The programme of events offers the perfect way to experience the museum as volunteers set about to bring the museum alive by educating and entertaining visitors with crafts, demonstrations and hands-on activities.

Surrey Hills Spring Festival – Booking Tickets

Free Parking on site.

Friendly dogs welcome on leads.

Adult Advance Online ticket  £10.00 (up to 12 noon on Friday 24th March)

Adult Ticket: £12.50

Children under 16: FREE

Accompanying Carers: FREE

Group Bookings For group bookings of 15 or more please contact info@surreyhillsenterprises.co.ukor £12.50 on the gate or online after 12 noon on Friday 24th March.

E-TICKETS:  An automatic email confirmation of your booking will be forwarded within a few minutes of making your booking. Please print and bring a copy with you or bring a copy of the receipt on your device.
