Frensham Village Shop is a community interest company, founded in 1996 predominantly serving the local parishes of Frensham village and Dockenfield.
We stock a wide variety of local produce, including coffee, cakes and locally homemade curries and frozen meals. The post office is open 6 days a week.
Our shop is staffed by a full time professional manager, three part-time Post Office staff, two part-time evening staff. Day-to-day till duties are actually undertaken by up to 40 volunteers from in and around the local area; filling in five 2-hour shifts throughout the business day. We are also open until 7pm on weekdays for any last minute purchases!
The shop was set up to be a non profit enterprise; with any annual profits donated back to the community via a ‘Give-Back’ scheme. Just last year we donated to the refurbishment of the Frensham church bells, surface relaying of the local playground and also to a local parenting charity.
We are on a mission to reduce our carbon footprint by supporting and stocking local producers wherever possible. Our meat comes from Rowledge Butchers in Rowledge, our fresh coffee beans for our coffee machine from Cupsmith of Farnham, our fresh cakes and brownies from Crosbies of Dorking and Hungry Guest of Petworth. We also stock Greyfriars vineyard wine from 6 miles away on the Hogsback and cheese from Cheese on the Way at Pierrepoint Farm – 2 miles away! We stock 100% biodegradable coffee cups and lids for our takeaway coffee cups too.
